School Tours

Led by teachers and visited by hundreds of students–we offer a quality experience for your class and meet 3rd grade curriculum requirements in the state of Ohio.

At the bell rings, calling the students to class, they will be greeted at the door by their “school marm”. Students participate in actual lessons and games of the era and learn what life was like for rural children in the 19th century. Students will put their “new education” to use, standing to answer questions, participating in spell-offs, speaking in front of class, and using their slate. They could end up at the top of the class on the recitation bench or wind up on the dunce chair for misbehavior!

Our school has been restored to its original design and has many artifacts, replicas, and reproductions that students can handle. Among the hands-on experiences, students will have the opportunity to pump water from the well, dance around the maypole, and even use the outhouse!

We’d love to host your class for a fun and educational experience. Contact us to get started!

Community Groups

Located between several of Ohio’s largest cities and near many other potential stops in the area–we’re happy to welcome your community group for a unique historical experience.

Arrive to the schoolhouse with the bell welcoming your group to “class”. Settle into your seat and experience school as a 19th century student led by your “school marm” instructor. Enjoy participating in class with spell-offs, recitation, singing, and using your slate.

But be sure to follow the rules or earn a seat in the dunce chair!
